I hated working on Christmas Day
Education: University of Law-LLM Conflict Resolution, Moi University- Currently pursuing a Masters’ Degree in Dispute Resolution at The University of Law (U.K).
Experience: about three (3) years now practicing law and mediation at Ashreen Matthews Associates
Awards/recognition: none yet
First job/salary: KSHS.15, 000
Worst/best job: My best job was being a Research Assistant to a magistrate on my attachment. There was no pay but I got to play boss when he wasn’t around.
Worst job was being an associate where I was expected to work through Christmas; fortunately I got fired before Christmas day.
First/current neighborhood: Kikuyu and Thika respectively
Worst mistake: None that hasn’t had its lesson.
Missed opportunity: There are too many of those, guess what’s yours you won’t miss.
One thing I can’t give away: My pride
Most embarrassing moment: Having an uncooperative witness in court saying everything you told them not to say.
One thing I regret: Not reading as much as I should have.
Unforgettable person: Mbuthi Gathenji taught me most of the Law I know.
Proudest moment: Having my client (an old lady) get paid a debt that was owing for more than ten years.
Best advice ever: READ! Anything, everything just read.
